And now the news:

---------- They don't care what the weatherman says...

... and the weatherman's saying nothing, for the Weather Channel has
officially shut down all of its European channels. The Weather Channel
UK, Der Wetterkanal, Het Weerkanaal and Il Canale Meteo have all ceased
broadcasts. Replacing the channels are brief announcements explaining
that programmes will no longer be transmitted; I only got a look at the
UK card, which also carries text for the Dutch channel. The satellites
affected by this are Astra 1D, i605, Orion 1 and Kopernikus 3. Of the
channels, only the Weather Channel UK was actually broadcasting in
analogue, as part of the Sky package. The other channels only got a
limited audience due to their digital/cable only transmissions.

********** Internal information

As from today, no new channel logos will be uploaded to Sat-UK-Web. The
logos currently displayed on the frequency charts will, however, be
retained for now. This is due to a major overhaul on the channel
logotypes feature in the near future.
