Dish Network Says 350,000 As Of End 1996
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado, USA, 97/01/07 (TS) -- EchoStar Communications Corp.
has announced it had 350,000 subscribers at the end of 1996, its first 10
months on air. The company said its first year subscriber numbers are
better than any of its competitors were in their first year. December 1996
subscriber figures showed an addition of 65,000 customers.
The Dish Network currently offers over 120 channels of audio and video
programming, fully MPEG-2/DVB compliant hardware, installation, financing
and leasing. EchoStar III, a Lockheed Martin AX2100 satellite, is scheduled
to launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on an Atlas IIAS launch vehicle in
the fall of 1997 after which the service will offer over 200 channels.
