Arianespace flight V95, using an Ariane 44LP launcher, has brought the
Thaicom 3 and the Japanese BSAT-1a succesfull in a transfer orbit late
yesterday evening, 20 and 25 minutes respective after launch at 23:09
CEST, from Kourou, French Guiana.
The Thaicom 3 satellite, which is the largest satellite ever built by
French manufacturer Aerospatiale, has the ability to broadcast DTH
services with 7 of its 24 hi-power C-Band transponder into the Middle
Eastern region, using a global beam. An EIRP of 35 dbW could be

The next Arianespace launch V96, scheduled for Mai 13th, will
"Insh'Allah" take the Panamsat 6 to the 43 degrees West postion for
digital DTH services to Latin America.

The technical producers of the new BAZTAB program on 4.085 GHz, Rc, in
Los Angeles, California did contact me and would love to have various
reception reports from the Middle East region. Please submit youre
comments and I will forward the lot to them.
BAZTAB (a program from Persepolis Global Productions), is an Iranian
oppositional channel, which has started on Orion 1 and Arabsat 2B: 4.085
GHz, Rc, PAL, Free-To-Air and is broadcasting from 16.45 - 18.00 CET
(21:15 - 22:30 Iranian local time).

Several Medium and Hi-Power C-Band transponders were fired up for
domestic Arabian feeds, due to the Eid Al Adha celebrations.
The quality of picture and sound was in general very good.

Two confirmations regarding the Future TV audio subcarriers could be
received: Radio Orient is definitely on 7.38 MHz, and Radio Lebanon is
definitely on 7.56 MHz. Thanks for the confirmations from NN, Jordan and

The two MPEG-2 channels on 11.094 GHz, V, SR 4728, FEC 3/4, are of
educational content and use: VPID 0020 - APID 0048 and VPID 0030 - APID
0049. (Info kindly submitted by A.Shaviv via SATCO-DX)

Transponder 3L on 11.131 GHZ, V, was used for a discussions
transmission.
