THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.03.25 REPORT:

- Express 2 tp
- Bits & Pieces
THAICOM 3, tbl to 78.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/launches.html
The Thaicom 3 satellite, from the Shinawatra Satellite Company, which is
scheduled to launch on April 11 with Arianspace flight V95, and
stationed on 78.5 East, has a very interesting footprint map on this
The whole of the Middle East is covered by the global C-Band beam, which
can be used by 7 of the 24 C-Band transponder. The expected EIRP in the
MidEast is around 35 dbW, which should provide good visible pictures up
to Lybia and excellent pictures in the KSA and Gulf area.
It is the aim to make the present non-commercial Thai broadcasting
available in a very large area to cover as much as possible Thai ex-pat
EUTELSAT II-f2, 10 East, http://www.satcodx.com/e2f2.html
As expected, the B-MAC transmissions of AFRTS (AFN) on transponder 39
11.659 GHz, V, ceased and was replaced today by transmissions of RTS-SAT
Initially it looked like a double feature of RTS-SAT on the Eutelsat
II-f2 and the Eutelsat II-f4-M. After the test card from JRT Beograd, a
RTS test dia was presented from about 17:00 CET, on Eutelsat II-f2.
On Eutelsat II-f4-M the same dia appeared, only 15 minutes before
official programme start at 18:00 CET. The broadcast proceeded on both
satellites as normal.
Then however, I was surprised to find out that, relative short after
programme begin, the transmissions on the Eutelsat II-f4 transponder 22B
had been interupted, not even a carrier remained.
Personnaly I did expect a continuation of the RTS-SAT transmissions on
Eutelsat II-f4, 11.178 GHz, H, for at least a couple of days longer.
Transmissions on the new frequency on Eutelsat II-f2 continued as usual.
Transponder 27A, 11.138 GHz, V, carried a tonight a undefined MPEG-2
signal, with the coded AFRTS (AFN) MPEG-2 package on the new/old
transponder 27B, 11.178 GHz, V. Transmission on transponder 27A had
ceased before 21:30 CET.
INTELSAT 707, 1 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
Another sports transmission on transponder 111X-A, 10.967 GHz, V, for
Israels Channel 5. Channel 2 is now only irregular transmitted on
transponder 73B, 11.176 GHz, V, mostly absent in the early morning,
where only a test card is presented.
AMOS 1, 4 West, http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
Transponder 3L, 11.131 Ghz, V, carried a feed for IBA of an official
award ceremony with Israels Prime-Minister Nethanyahou.
GORIZONT 26, 11 West, http://www.satcodx.com/g26.html
On frequency 3.825 Ghz, Rc, was, once more, a feed registered.
EXPRESS 2, 14 West, http://www.satcodx.com/e2.html
The empty carrier on 3.975 GHz, Rc, has grown very powerfull today.
The registered strengtht is higher than the transmissions of NTV on
4.075 GHz, Rc. This confirms that this transponder still is switched
onto the spotbeam, identical to times where transmissions of TV6 on this
frequency could be observed.
