THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.03.09 REPORT:

- Formula 1 on 66E
- MIC postponed
- Bits & Pieces

INTELSAT 704, 66 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i704.html
------------
On frequency 4.060 Ghz, Rc, Formula One racing feeds from Melbourne,
Australia for RTL. German commentary on 6.60 MHz, natural circuit sounds
on 7.20 MHz. Transmissions for the first race of 1997 starts at 02:15
GMT, 03:15 CET or 04:15 CAT.

INTELSAT 703, 57 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i703.html
------------
Please disregard the message from 97.03.07 around the Egyptian digital
package on this satellite. Two messages have been mixed up,
unfortunately, the submitted PID's and frequencies were partly
incorrect.

TURKSAT 1C, 42 East, http://www.satcodx.com/t1c.html
----------
Kanal 7 on Westbeam transponder 8A, 11.144 GHz, V, is obliged to take a
24 hour break today. Transponder 3 on 11.665 GHz, V, has been tested
yesterday for several hours and showed a colorbar testcard, also using
the Westbeam. Reception quality of transponder 3 is not good, whereby
has to be noted that the transponder is not setup, to be divided into
halves.

ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
The frequency used by TV Mauretanie, 3.875 GHz, Rc, was using a coded
signal during the day , whereby I couldn't get a lock on the
synchronization, whatsoever. The Mauretanian Radio on 7.02 MHz, was
clear receivable. Late afternoon the normal colorbar test card was used.

HOT BIRD 1, 13 East, http://www.satcodx.com/hb1.html
----------
The launch of the German music channel MIC has been postponed to
October. The channel previously had announced to start on transponder 4,
11.283 Ghz, V, early April '97.

INTELSAT 707, 1 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
------------
Transponder halves 111X-A and 111X-B on respective 10.968 and 11.015
GHz, V, as well as transponder 73A, 11.136 GHz, V, are again
transmitting EMEQ - HAELA test cards for BEZEQ Communications, whereby
111X-A is quite weak, in fact sparkly.
Commercial Channel 2, using transponder 73B on 11.176 GHz, V, is
unchanged.

INTELSAT 601, 27.5 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i601.html
------------
The for this position anounced digital package "Club 601" with CFI, MCM,
Canal+ Horizons, TV5, Euronews, PLanete, La Cinquieme and AB Cartoons,
did not appear yet. The package was announced for a launch in 1996,
using the MCM Afrique C-Band transponder 20, 3.655 GHz, Rc.

PANAMSAT 3R, 43 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
-----------
After a quite week for feeds on this bird, showed Canal+ commentaries to
a soccer match using transponder 7EK, 12.701 GHz, H, with a subcarrier
for French commentary on 6.60 MHz and stadium sounds on a subcarrier on
7.20 MHz.

SAT-MidEast on http://www.sat-net.com/sat-mideast/
-----------
A few minor updates have been made. A new listing for broadcasters
adresses added. Worked on the MPEG-2 listings and the modular windows
display, also known as frames. Little visitors of the site during the
Cable and Satellite Exhibition in Dubai, more expected.

But it is strange here, I visited last week a computer exhibition with
major suppliers around. I had really difficulty to find a computer
hooked up to the internet. I was after an hour able to get a connection,
and that via an Apple Workstation. What a difference to Europe...trying
to find a boot on the CEBIT which is NOT steady on-line, now that's
difficult.

Best regards,

Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
