THE HEADLINES IN THIS REPORT:

- PAS 4
- Arabsat 2B
- Amos Promo
- Bits & Pieces

EXPRESS 6, 80 East, http://www.satcodx.com/e6.html
---------
Early morning only a glimps of a blue band test card on 3.986 Ghz, Rc.

PANAMSAT 4, 68.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/pas4.html
----------
The dissappearance of the ABN India Channel and Sony Entertainment TV
must have been a disruption in the up-link. Broadcasts were restored
later yesterday night.

On 4.036 GHz, H, from about 20:00 CET a taped "live" performance of
Iranian female singer "Marzieh". Quality of the transmission was very
good, while the Doordarshan transmissions, on the vertical polarisation
side, had closed down.

The test Channel 23 in the Multichoice Africa package shows presently
"BET on JAZZ", Channel 24 displays for a trial period "CFN". These test
channels present a selection of new programming for a trial period of 4
weeks, where-after viewers are requested to select the channel of their
choice for implementation in the current channel line up.

GALS 1/2, 36 East, http://www.satcodx.com/gals1.html
--------
Irregular scrambling in Syster/Nagravsion can be observed, sometimes
over the test card, sometimes over regular programming. This morning
various sound tests were performed during the scrambling periods before
programm start on 12.168 GHz Lc.

The performance of 12.168 and 11.919 frequencies has further improved
today, especially the first frequency is now almost spark free
receivable in Cairo, without any special treshold settings. According to
the lately published footprints, actually a miracle. (?)

ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
This morning hi-power C-Band transponder 17 has been tested, showing a
colorbar test card on frequency 4.087 GHz, and soundcarriers with a
sinus tone on 6.60 and 7.20 Mhz. The quality of the transmission was,
compared to the other present transmissions, good; about the same
quality as known from Arabsat 2A.

AMOS 1, 4 West, http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
For the first time shown on the Israel beam, a promotional Amos test
card (with the barcode stripes in the middle) is on transponder 2L,
11.052 GHz, V. The text on the test card reads:
AMOS COMMUNICATION SATELLITE
	TEL: +972-3-6134720
	FAX: +972-3-6174723.

Transponder 2U, 11.105 GHz, V, is for quite a long time, uninterupted,
in use for data or telephone communications.

Transponder 5L, 11.522 GHz, V, was activated today for a religious feed,
which also could be seen on Intelsat 707, 1 West, 10.968 GHz, V. Sound
carrier as usual on 6.60 MHz.

INTELSAT 705, 18 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i705.html
------------
The beam with the regular Intelsat feed frequencies 4.166 and 4.188 GHz.
is lately more precisely directed towards the Middle East. The C-Band
transmissions are spark free, even with both frequencies transmitting at
the same time. On 4.166 in NTSC today, from Waterman Broadcasting, Fort
Myers, Florida, for NBC 2 and ABC 7, a fishy feed with a sound carrier
on 6.60 MHz.

Best regards,

Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
