Filmnet/MChoice on Thor2

   MultiChoice Package on Thor2  (1degree west)   16th July,1997

  As reported in satellite groups on Usenet today,
  Thor2 is broadcasting a nice strong digital multiplex from Multichoice.
   Currently these are in the clear i.e. no CAM or smartcard needed.
  Parameters are :-
  Frequency = 11.278
  Polarisation = Vertical
  SR = 24,500
  FEC ratio = 7/8
  (no PID's are needed).

  I set these up on a Nokia 9200 FTA receiver with no card or CAM.
  Good pictures resulted from Hallmark, Filmnet 1 & Filmnet 2.
  The Filmnet channels also have teletext.
   None of the channels have the "now & next" programme info.
   Some films are in widescreen mode ; if you have a 16:9 TV this
   makes quite a difference. 
   Enjoy watching until they decide to encrypt !
