Re: Inmarsat on drdish@tv

Hi doc,
meanwhile we got a collection of drdish-tv tapes. It is a pitty that we
can not receive your show here in Lebanon. Please move to Hotbird! Now
my question:
you got a lot of information on the two reachable Inmarsats, partly high
sensitive. Your are right to say a journalist should use such device to
be informed nearly first hand. But why do you not give some advice how
to cope with the different (encoded?) data-signals?

Dr:Dish:
Somewhere must be a border and publishing this information would be
against the law. If you use your own (or others) knowledge it is quite
easy to intercept the fax-signals. On the other hand using just
voice-transmission gives you a lot of information. Minutes ago I
followed the communication between a very well known journalist out of
Bagdad with his home-base. This kind of information is much more
valuable as some boring data about shipments. And emergency calls via
the IOR-Inmarsat dealing with piracy are still made in voice.
