PAS-6 Waiting At Kourou
  KOUROU, French Guiana, 97/03/31 (TS) -- PanAmSat said this week that its
PAS-6 satellite has arrived at the Arianespace launch facility in French
Guiana and will now undergo final preparations for a May 1997 launch. PAS-6
will be positioned above the Atlantic Ocean, at 43 degrees West, and be
wholly dedicated to providing Direct-to-home (DTH) television services in
Latin America.

  The Sky Entertainment Services DTH package is being prepared in
partnership by News Corporation, Grupo Televisa, Organizacoes Globo and
Tele-Communications International.

  Space Systems/Loral completed construction of the PAS-6 satellite earlier
this month. The satellite will be launched on an Ariane-4 rocket in,
according to Ariane's latest schedule, early May 1997. It is an FS 1300
satellite with 36 Ku-band transponders.
