Loral Wins Indonesian Satellite Contract
JAKATA, Indonesia, 96/12/16 (TS) -- Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) has signed
a $350 million contract with P.T. Pasifik Satelit Nusantara of Jakarta,
Indonesia, to supply the company with a high powered satellite, M2A. The
deal also included options of a possible six additional satellites.

The M2A satellite will be launched by Russian Proton rocket in early 1999
to the 134 degrees East or 118 degrees East slots.

The M2A satellite will become the most powerful C-band satellite in the
skies when it is launched, said SS/L. It will have 54 C-band transponders
and have coverage in the X-band. Maximum capacity will see it generating
more than 11 kilowatts of electrical power and transmiting more than 4
kilowatts of radiated power. The footprint includes seven shaped spot beams
and one global beam.
