THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.01.01 REPORT:

- PAS-6 launch
- Thaicom 3 tests
- Intelsat 801 in position
- Lybia new on Arabsat 2B

PANAMSAT 6, t.b.l. at 43 West, http://www.satcodx.com/launches.html
----------
As reported in SAT-MidEast 97.05.01, has the launch of the PANSAMSAT 6,
originally scheduled for May 13, been postponed.
PanAmSat Corporation said that the launch of its PAS 6 Atlantic Ocean
Region satellite has been rescheduled for late summer 1997.
Arianespace has indicated its ability to accommodate the revised PAS-6
launch timetable.

SME comment: This will definately now mess up the already difficult
Arianespace launch schedule this year (or eventually clear up things).
It is not even sure yet on which flight finally Hot Bird 3 (V99 ?) and
the Sirius 2 (V100 ?) will be.
It makes life more exciting ;-) , at least untill the launch of Ariane
V102.

Latest estimated timetable: (Flight V96 & V98 could also be exchanged)

V 97	L468	03/06/97	44L INMARSAT 3-F4 & INSAT 2D
V 98 L469 25/06/97 44P INTELSAT 802
V 99 L470 15/07/97 44LP HOTBIRD-3 & INDOSTAR

THAICOM 3, 78.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/thai3.html

The satellite will be moved to 78.5 East following testing. Around June
1st, Thaicom 3 will take over all traffic now carried by Thaicom 1.
Thaicom 3 features a semi global beam with transponders in the 3.400 to
3.700 GHz C-band range, with seven transponders covering all of Africa,
eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

INTELSAT 801, 64 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i801.html
------------
Intelsat 801 began moving away from 47 East on 25 April and is, as
reported in the latest NORAD position data, currently around 62 East,
and will reach Sunday evening it's final position on 64 East, where
final tests take place prior to the official activation of the satellite
in the coming week.

INTELSAT 703, 57 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i703.html
------------
Orbit has started a shopping service on Channel 7 of the digital package
on May 1st. The contents are also to be seen on Orbit's Promotional
Channel, transponder 9, 3.884 GHz, Rc, on Arabsat 2A, 26 East.

For some time now there is also a Channel 6 available, which on
selection, shows the usual "You are not subscribed to this..." when you
tune to it. Orbit always had the policy to broadcast new channels one
month free of charge to all viewers, but this time it has changed it's
procedures most probably as well.

Has anybody an idea what is transmitted on Orbit Channel 6 ?
