NO HEADLINES IN THIS 97.02.23 REPORT:

- only DX Bits & Pieces

INTELSAT 703, 57 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i703.html
------------
Kazahk TV on 11.550 GHz, H, relays irregularely the programming of
Khabar TV, 11.650 GHz, H, including the Khabar logo, after closing of
the own broadcast.
Today a movie was broadcasted identical on the two transponder, whereby
still the quality of 11.650 GHz dominates.

ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
That the Arabsat 2B is very well capable of transmitting perfect
pictures can sometimes be seen on short transmission sequences on
various transponder.

Tonight as example a feed for Abu Dhabi TV via JRTV Amman was
transmitted on 4.062 GHz, Lc, in execellent picture and sound quality,
with signal levels as strong as seen on Arabsat 2A.

And not only the high power C-Band transponder are doing well, the ASBU
feed on transponder 1, 3.980 GHz, Rc, or the well known feed transponder
7, 3.845 GHz, Rc, are, at times, receivable in excellent quality, with
however lower signal levels.

Keeping this in mind, it allows then only to blame the poor uplink
quality from RTM-1 on transponder 11, 3.925 GHz, Rc, and Mauretania on
transponder 9, 3.876 GHz, Rc, for the, at best, mediocre reception
results.

INTELSAT 707, 1 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
------------
After the on 21/02 reported decrease in signal of transponder 111X,
there has been a slight improvement on Friday-night and Saterday. Today
however the lower half of the transponder: 10.968 GHz, V, was only
visible with all available treshold thrown in, and even than the picture
was 80% sparkled, with a crashing sound on the subcarrier.

Best regards,

Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
