THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.02.11 REPORT:

- Arabsat Testing
- SAT-1 on PAS3
- Bits & Pieces

GORIZONT 31, 40 East, http://www.satcodx.com/g31.html
-----------
A transmission of InterNews, including on-screen logo, could be observed
early morning on the NVS transponder, 3.925 GHz, Rc, using the normal
subcarrier.

ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
Transponder 8, 12.661 GHz, V, didn't have a carrier today, therefore was
transponder 5 active, with an even stronger carrier throughout the
morning hours. No further test activities could be observed, nor
subcarriers.

EUTELSAT II-f2, 10 East, http://www.satcodx.com/e2f2.html
--------------
Also today on transponder 27U, 11.138 GHz, V, the live feed of the
Arabic Song Contest in Lebanon for the Orbit Network. Sound cariers are
on 6.60 and 7.20 MHz.

AMOS 1, 4 West, http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
The Amos test card moved from transponder 2L, 11.052 Ghz, V, to
transponder 3, using the middle frequency of 11.159 GHz, V. A subcarrier
could not be observed.

At the same time a transmission, of unknown nature, could be observed on
11.103 GHz, V, which is on the low end of the 72 MHz bandwidth of
transponder 3.

GORIZONT 26, 11 West, http://www.satcodx.com/g26.html
-----------
NTV+ "Mir Kino" could be seen for a while, in the clear, on 3.816 GHz,
Rc, with a subcarrier on 6.60 Mhz. The transmission was identical to
GALS, 36 East, 11.919 GHz, Rc, at the same time in Syster encrypted.

PANAMSAT 3-R, 43 West, http://www.satcodx.com/pas3r.html
------------
A transmission for NHK New York, in PAL, of "CNN Headline News",
including all commercials, could be observed, in an excellent quality
via 12.575 GHz, V, with subcarriers on 6.20 and 6.80 GHz. The occasion
was the 15th Anniversary of CNN Headline News, as far as I could figure.

On the same transponder as mentioned above, only using the full
bandwidth and therefore from the middle frequency 12.590 GHz, V, was
SAT-1 with a feed to Germany. The same difficulties with the subcarriers
occured as on the previous reported SAT-1 up-link from the Domenican
Republic (SAT-MidEast 07/02/97).

Finally some kind of link could be established with a subcarrier on 6.60
MHz, and the content of the feed became clear: It concerned a recent
misbehaviour of the (in)famous German actor Harald Juhnke, during
filming for a new serial in the Caribic. The feed included interviews
with German tourists on the island.

If somebody want to book another (unreliable) link form the Domenican
Republic: call BMS 787-767-4590, at least that's what the test card
said...
