HOT BIRD 2
----------
Opposite to other reports is the launch of the Atlas mission AC-124 with
Eutelsat's Hot Bird 2 again being postponed until late next week because
of predicted high winds on the Space Coast and already scheduled launch
attempts for NASA's shuttle Columbia earlier in the week. Atlas
manufacturer Lockheed Martin decided to cancel Sunday's launch attempt.

The satellite-delivery mission now is scheduled for launch next Friday
during a window that will open at 3:48 p.m. and close at 5:14 p.m. EST
(20:48 - 22:14 GMT). Lockheed Martin, however, would opt to move the
launch up to Thursday if shuttle Columbia takes off on schedule Tuesday.

A shuttle launch attempt Wednesday would automatically push the Atlas
mission back to Friday. In that case, the Air Force on Thursday would
reset range safety and tracking equipment to support an Atlas launch
attempt Friday.
