READY TO START

     Despite our previous fears, the new Hungarian uplink station will be
ready in time to serve the needs of MTV2 (the second channel of the
Hungarian television) and the Duna Tv (Hungary's first satellite channel
for ex-patriots). So soon indeed, that first tests will be carried out
next week and the station will be fully operational by 1st of August.

     The only technical obstacle in the way of launching MTV2 on
satellite is the satellite itself, since the channel should start on
Eutelsat's Hot Bird 3 which is not yet in space and won't be till 29th
August. If HB3 launched perfectly, then MTV2's uplink could go ahead in
the first half of September.

     By the way, according to interviews given by the managers of RTL
Klub (the second new terrestrial commercial TV network) their
transmissions should start by either 23rd of October or 1st of November.
It depends on MTV2's move to satellite.

INDULASRA KESZEN

     Korabbi felelmeink ellenere ugy nez ki, hogy az uj magyar
feladoallomas idoben elkeszul, hogy szolgalhassa az MTV2 (a Magyar
Televizio masodik csatornaja) es a Duna Tv (Magyarorszag elso muholdas
csatornaja a hatarontuli magyaroknak) igenyeit. Valojaban olyan hamar
kesz lesz, hogy a kovetkezo heten mar kiserleteket is hajtanak vegre vele
es augusztus elsejen teljesen mukodokepes lesz.

     Az egyeduli technikai akadaly az MTV2 muholdas indulasanak utjaban
jelen pillanatban maga a muhold, ugyanis az MTV2-nek az Eutelsat Hot Bird
3-on kellene elindulni, mely jelenleg meg nem tartozkodik az urben es
augusztus 29-ig nem is fog. Ha a HB3-at sikeresen fellottek, akkor
az MTV2 szeptember elso feleben elindulhat.

     Egyebkent az RTL Klub (a masodik uj folfelszini kereskedelmi
tevehalozat) vezetoi altal adott interjuk alapjan az o adasuknak oktober
23-an, vagy november elsejen kellene elindulnia. Mindez az MTV2 muholdra
koltozesen mulik.
